Contemplating Immortality I

This open work shelter, built into two living wisteria trees, followed the organic lines of dense roots on the ground. The highly symbolic wisteria embodied meanings such as endurance, longevity and creativity. Hanging lines of glass from the apex and a contemplative bench enhanced the contemplative experience. This became a favored place for special ceremonies.

Following a one year stay in Woodstock, it was moved and rebuilt on a nature trail, part of an elder community in New Paltz, NY where it is an ongoing public place.

Contemplating Immortality I : 2013 - 2014, Outdoor Environment Byrdcliffe Sculpture Exhibition: Gimme Shelter; 12' x 60' round wisteria, vines and other elements river glass, rope, etc.
