AT PEACE

Incorporating Enid’s self portrait and other components, this work was inspired by seeing her in her coffin which I was asked to paint with her son. In life, Enid was constantly active, often in a whirlwind. In death she found peace as seen here. Seeing her quiet, in the coffin, reminded me of Egyptian mummies.

At Peace: 2014; 56”x30”x3”; wood, paper, acrylic paint; Enid’s drawing and metalsmith fragments, copper screening
