HEALING ARBOR

This contemplative environment, created as collaborative public art, grew from an arts for wellness program that Susan Togut conducted with those touched by cancer. In 1997 cancer patients, survivors and loved ones created two sided mandalas (top/left). From 2001 forward participants created changing simulated stained glass windows. Every few years improvements and new art renewed this living, highly trafficked place. The City granted a long term stay on the waterfront due to its enthusiastic public appeal. In 2010 it moved to the nearby Benedictine Hospital until 2017 when the hospital began renovations on its campus.
