History Murals

Celebrating The Quatracentennial

Dutchess County Fairgrounds, NY
2009; 16' x 4'

This collaborative mural celebrates the Hudson River, honoring itís significance for the past four-hundred years. It was created for the Dutchess County Fairgrounds by Residents of the Northeast Center for Special Care which serves those challenged by traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, and related conditions. A dynamic community based project, such as this mural, draws in a wide group of artists, some of whom do not typically participate. As seen in the credits a few lead artists created the central imagery while a larger group created the border tiles. Below please explore this expressive depiction of the Hudson River covering parts of Dutchess, Ulster and Green Counties in New York State. A few landmarks are noted and may be easily recognized.
